Queen Dihya

Queen Dihya, also known as Dahlia, was a remarkable Berber queen and a fearless female warrior who confronted adversaries during the collapse of empires. She was a courageous leader who spearheaded the indigenous resistance against enemy conquests. Dahlia was born to Tabat, the chieftain of the Jrawa tribe in the mountainous Aures region. She was reputed for her tall stature, captivating eyes, and flowing hair, and gained the moniker Al-Kahina, meaning witch, due to her perceived ability to foresee the future. Legend tells of her oracular gifts, which allowed her to communicate with birds and sense impending wars.
